Jog Falls, a major attraction in Karnataka, is located in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. Situated 12 kilometers away from Shimoga, Tunga Anicut Dam is the most famous picnic spot near Jog Falls. This dam lies within the premises of Shettihalli Sanctuary. Surrounded by areca nut plants and paddy fields, this place provides a scenic view of the Bababudain Giri range.
Honnemaradu
Situated on the backwaters of the Sharavathi River in Shimoga district, Honnemaradu is known as a place of golden sand. This place provides a perfect setting for camping and various water sports. Honnewaradu is a must-visit place for all adventure lovers.
Koppa Lion & Tiger Reserve
This reserve is another famous tourist attraction near Jog Falls. It is located within the Shettila Sanctuary near the Tunga Anicut Dam. Spread over an area of 200 hectares, Thyvare Koppa Lion and Tiger Reserve is popular for its rare variety of birds, lions, tigers, deer, and bears.
BRP Dam and Linganmakki Dam
There are two other famous dams near Jog Falls that make a great place for tourist attractions namely BRP Dam and Linganamakki Dam. The BRP Dam is built across the Bhadra River, located 28 kilometers from Jog Falls. The Linganamakki Dam is situated 6 kilometers from Jog Falls and offers a photographic view of the Sharavati River.
